Christopher Pere Ajuwa was born on 23 November 1941 into the illustrious families of High Chief Pa Ogongolo Vurudu Ajuwa and Chief Mrs. Rachael Diriayefa Ajuwa of Egbesubiri and Erubiri Quarters, Gbaranraun Kingdom, in present-day Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
His birth story has often been described as miraculous. His mother reportedly went into labor while fishing and, without the aid of a midwife, delivered him in a canoe. That same day, she caught her largest fish ever and named him “Pere,” meaning “Wealth”—a prophetic name that would define his life’s journey.
Education and Professional Formation
Pere Ajuwa’s educational path reflected both resilience and determination:
- Attended Ade Oshodi Primary School in the early 1950s, earning his First School Leaving Certificate
- Proceeded to Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, but could not complete due to financial challenges

- Studied Structural Engineering at Worcester University, United Kingdom, becoming a British-certified Technical Structural Engineer in the early 1980s
- Earned a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Ekiti State University in 2006

Early Career and Rise in Business
Pere began his professional career in 1969 as a Technician with the Western State Water Corporation, Ibadan, before moving in 1970 to the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN) as an Engineer in charge of the Water Treatment Plant.
In pursuit of greater knowledge, he later traveled to the United Kingdom in the late 1970s. Upon returning, he ventured into private enterprise, establishing Pere Roberto Nigeria Limited, through which he became a prominent building contractor and petroleum marketer.

- Construction of a Helipad at Bonny Camp, Victoria Island, Lagos
- Structural works at the Petroleum Training Institute, Warri

His boldest political move came in 1993, when he contested the presidential primaries of the National Republican Convention (NRC) against Alhaji Bashir Tofa, becoming the first Niger Deltan to attempt such a feat.

- 2007 – under the Alliance for Democracy (AD)
- Also challenged Muhammadu Buhari in ANPP primaries (2003 & 2007)
