Born on May 2, 1955, in the historic community of Ogbolomabiri Nembe, Bayelsa State, Moses Koriatimi Harold was born into the renowned Igbeta Family through his parents, Mr. Moses Damingo and Madam Ethel Moses. From childhood, he displayed exceptional brilliance, discipline, and an enduring passion for knowledge.

He began his academic journey at the prestigious St. Primary School, Nembe, where he distinguished himself and successfully earned his First School Leaving Certificate. Driven by a thirst for excellence, he proceeded to Nembe National Grammar School (1971–1975), where he excelled in his West African Senior School Certificate (WASC) examinations.

Determined to deepen his academic and professional capacity, Moses enrolled at the Rivers State College of Education, Port Harcourt, earning his National Certificate of Education (NCE) between 1976 and 1979. His pursuit of higher learning later took him to the prestigious University of Ibadan, where he obtained a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in Chemistry (1982–1984).

Never content with mediocrity, he continued to expand his intellectual horizons through multiple certifications in science, technology, and computer programs at the University of Port Harcourt between 1989 and 1992, positioning himself at the forefront of educational innovation and administration.


Distinguished Career in Education and Public Service

Moses Koriatimi Harold devoted his entire professional life to the advancement of education, particularly in the Niger Delta region. His career began in 1979 as a classroom teacher at Government Girls Secondary School, Nembe, where his passion for teaching quickly became evident.

Following his service as a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member between 1979 and 1980, he returned to his alma mater, Nembe National Grammar School, where he taught Chemistry from 1980 to 1987, inspiring students with both knowledge and discipline.

His growing expertise saw him serve as:

  • A Chemistry specialist at Government Girls Secondary School, Harbor Road, Port Harcourt (1990–1991)
  • A Supervisor at the National Teacher Institute (1987–1990)
  • An influential administrator within the Ministry of Education in Rivers and Bayelsa States (1991–2014)

Over the years, he rose steadily through the ranks due to his competence, integrity, and visionary leadership. He eventually became:

  • Director of Science, Technical and Higher Education
  • Later Director of Primary and Teacher Education

His influence on science and technical education in Bayelsa State was immense. Between 1997 and 2003, he served as the State Coordinator for the Junior Engineers, Technicians, and Science Programme, championing scientific literacy and technological advancement among young people.

From 2007 to 2014, he also functioned as the Education Trust Fund (ETF) Desk Officer, overseeing critical educational interventions and institutional development initiatives.

After an illustrious and impactful career, Moses retired in 2013 as a full-fledged Director on Grade Level 17 within the Bayelsa State Civil Service—a remarkable testament to years of diligence, professionalism, and dedicated public service.


Professional Excellence and Intellectual Development

Beyond his public service, Moses remained deeply committed to professional growth and excellence. He was an active member of several respected professional organizations, including:

  • Science Teachers Association of Nigeria (STAN)
  • Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria (ICAN)

Life After Retirement

Even after formally retiring from the civil service, Moses remained energetic and productive. He established a bookshop in Opolo, Yenagoa, continuing his contribution to learning and intellectual development within the community.

In recognition of his experience and leadership, he was appointed to the Bayelsa State Science and Technology Education Board in 2017, where he continued advocating for quality education and scientific advancement.


Faith, Ministry, and Humanitarian Spirit

Above all else, Moses Koriatimi Harold was a deeply spiritual man whose Christian faith guided every aspect of his life. He embraced Christianity early and became an active member of the Scripture Union (SU) before later joining the Greater Evangelism World Crusade (GEWC).

At GEWC, he rose to become an ordained Pastor and served faithfully on the Board of Trustees, dedicating himself to evangelism, mentorship, and spiritual leadership.

Known for his generosity and compassion, Moses opened his home and heart to many people. He provided support, shelter, encouragement, and guidance to countless individuals, earning widespread admiration for his kindness and humanitarian spirit.

He was married multiple times, and his late wife was Mrs. Fortune Moses (née Amangala).


Final Journey and Legacy

On June 22, 2023, Moses Koriatimi Harold passed away following a cardiac arrest at his home in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. His passing marked the end of a remarkable life dedicated to education, faith, leadership, and service to humanity.

He was celebrated and laid to rest on November 8, 2023, in Ogbolomabiri-Nembe, Bayelsa State, with funeral rites conducted by the Greater Evangelism World Crusade.
